Allison recipient of F1000 Diabetes & Endocrinology Faculty Member of the Year Award

David B. Allison, PhD, distinguished professor and director of the Nutrition Obesity Research Center (NORC) and Office of Energetics, was recently honored with the F1000 Faculty Member of the Year Award 2014 for the Diabetes & Endocrinology Faculty in recognition of his having made the most significant contribution to the F1000 Recommendation service over the past year, as judged by the Faculty of 1000 editorial team. The Faculty of 1000 is comprised of the “leading biomedical experts helping scientists to discover, discuss and publish research,” which according to their website recommends the best research articles in biology and medicine from a faculty of global experts and provides an open science publishing platform for life scientists that offers immediate open access publication, transparent post-publication peer review by invited referees, and full data deposition and sharing, including an open access repository for posters and slide presentations in biology and medicine. 

Dr. Allison’s impact on nutrition and obesity research—including the genetic and environmental contributions to obesity and the connections among caloric restriction, obesity, body composition, weight gain/loss, and longevity—has earned him numerous distinctive honors.
