April 27, 2016

Amber W. Kinsey, PhD, CISSNAmber W. Kinsey, PhD, CISSN, post-doctoral fellow in the Nutrition Obesity Research Center (NORC) and Office of Energetics, has been accepted into the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) 2016-2017 Leadership & Diversity Training Program (LDTP). ACSM promotes diverse participation within the exercise science and sports medicine fields, and LDTP seeks to mentor and retain minority members. As an LDTP participant, Dr. Kinsey will be attending the 63rd Annual Meeting, 7th World Congress on Exercise is Medicine, and Word Congress on the Basic Science of Exercise Balance—which is “the most comprehensive sports medicine and exercise science conference in the world”—to be held May 31-June 4, 2016, in Boston. This is Dr. Kinsey’s fifth consecutive year as a participant in this highly competitive program.

“I am thankful for what the LDTP has done for me professionally and personally thus far, and I am honored to be accepted into the program again, but for the first time as a Level 3 member. I’m looking forward to rounding out my experiences as a mentee and am excited to continue to grow and be active within ACSM and, when eligible, advance to fellow status within the organization and serve as a mentor for future candidates,” says Dr. Kinsey.

Her research interests include pediatric obesity, minority health and health disparities, and behavioral interventions for obesity prevention and treatment.
