David Allison to deliver Corcoran Lecture at IU School of Medicine

October 17, 2016

David B. Allison, Ph.D., associate dean for research and science at the UAB School of Health Professions, will deliver the 2016 Patrick J.V. and Margaret B. Corcoran Lecture at the Indiana University School of Medicine-Evansville (IUSM). Allison’s lecture, titled “Obesity, Energetics, Security and Longevity,” will be given in the city of Evansville which was named the most obese city in the U.S. in 2011.

The annual Corcoran Lecture features a nationally prominent medical speaker who is recognized internationally for their work and that is why they chose Allison, who also serves as director of the NIH-funded National Obesity Research Center and the Office of Energetics.

Allison will deliver a lecture at lunch that will be attended by many undergraduate students from the University of Southern Indiana (USI), as well as IUSM faculty and staff, physicians from Evansville and the surrounding area, plus health care providers around Indiana and Kentucky.

The goal of the Corcoran Lecture is to inform and engage the healthcare community of Evansville and the neighboring region. Allison is the 15th speaker since the lecture was endowed in 2001 and he is the first to speak about nutrition since 2004.
