Drs Ingram & Kaiser receive 2011 Spring Career Enhancement Awards

Drs. Katherine Ingram and Kathryn Kaiser T32-funded post-doctoral fellows in the Section on Statistical Genetics in the Department of Biostatistics and the Nutrition Obesity Research Center at UAB, have been selected recipients of the 2011 Spring Career Enhancement Award from UAB's Office of Postdoctoral Education.

The Postdoctoral Career Enhancement Award was established in 2001 to provide opportunities for postdoctoral scholars to enhance their professional development. Allowable activities include internships up to a one month period, attending workshops, visiting laboratories to perform collaborative studies, travel to national and international professional conferences to present current findings, and, in general, expand their horizons. Additional activities may be approved for funding.

Dr. Ingram will use her award to travel to Dr. Sonia Caprio's laboratory at Yale University to study ectopic fat distribution.

Dr. Kaiser will use her award to travel to the European Congress on Obesity in Istanbul to present a paper on design issues in obesity treatment trials.
