Chelsea received a Bachelor of Science in Biology (Pre-Med) from Xavier University of Louisiana in 2009. Upon graduating from Xavier, Chelsea went on to complete a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology at Tulane University School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine. Chelsea spent time doing research at Soochow University School of Public Health in Suzhou, China while pursuing her MPH. Her master's thesis examined risk factors for severe disability after stroke in adults living in Northern China. Chelsea began the PhD program in Epidemiology at UAB School of Public Health in the fall of 2011. Her current research interests include neighborhood food environments, obesity, physical activity and minority health.

Chelsea has accepted a postdoc position at the University of Illinois at Chicago with Lisa Powell and Angela Odoms-Young. She starts in June, 2015.
