Thomas received his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science at The University of Texas at Arlington in 2014 and his Masters in Exercise and Sports Nutrition at Texas Woman’s University in 2017. In 2017 he was accepted into the Nutrition Sciences doctoral program at UAB and began working under Dr. Laura Rogers, Dr. Daniel Smith, Dr. Yarar-Fisher, and Dr. David Redden

Thomas’ current research focus involves examining the effects brown adipose tissue on metabolism and the potential role brown adipose tissue has on the development of obesity and type II diabetes. He is currently working with Dr. Daniel Smith and Dr. Yarar-Fisher on a study that aims to identify the location and quantification of brown adipose tissue in those with spinal cord injuries using multiple modalities, including magnetic resonance imaging and infrared thermography.
